We Get An Award!!!

On the occasion of the 200th Habitat for Humanity house being built on the Native American reservations in the Dakotas, each Habitat for Humanity affiliate in that region was given the opportunity to name the group or organization that has most supported them in their efforts to provide new homes for their people.

The affiliate on the Rosebud Reservation named us as their "Habitat Best Supporter" on November 8, 2003.  The presentation of the award, delayed due to the inability of our Mission Team to attend in South Dakota, was made in Chicago on Thursday, December 11, 2003.

The attached picture shows that award presentation, with Mr. Darrell E. Rowe, Parish Mission Team Coordinator, on the left, Mr. William Ward, Midwest Regional Director for Habitat for Humanity International for seven states, The Rev. William N. Hoelzel, III, Rector of St. Mary Episcopal Church, Crystal Lake, and Ms. Jeri B. Lemke, Native Peoples Support Manager of the Midwest Regional Support Center of Habitat for Humanity International, on the right.

We are very honored to receive this award, having formed many special relationships with the people of the Rosebud Reservation over the course of the five consecutive Mission Trips which began in 1999.

Plans are already underway for the sixth Mission Trip which will take place in June of 2004, returning once again to the Rosebud Reservation to work on Habitat for Humanity houses and also to conduct Vacation Bible School for some of the youth of the Reservation.
